Hey federal government,
So now you’re going to bleed whatever fucking money we were legally refunded from the previous year’s state and local tax refunds?! For what?! So you bailout failed & corrupt multi-billionaire dollar private corporations?! What the hell do you even do for us anyway?! I mean, besides mismanaging the money you blatantly steal from us. How the fuck can you go around saying that a national health care program is far too difficult to manage, but you don’t have any trouble figuring out how to run the world’s most fine tuned military, and when it comes to the administration of a national tax collecting agency - you’re doing just fine. So what the fuck do you do besides take our money and command the military to ensure you continue to take out money?!
And now you’re gonna dip into the rightfully refunded taxes we receive from state and local government?! The agencies that actually see results form time to time. And what’s next?! State and local tax our federal refunds? And then what? You fuckin’ tax our double taxed state and local refunded federal refunds?!
Fuck your monopoly on my right to live. I’ve found my cause. Good luck to you.

word… I am in deep:)

This is because state and local taxes are claimable on your federal taxes.  This is normal and has always been the case (aka has nothing to do with current legislation or the bailouts from the last few years).  The reason for your current balance is most likely that you filed an itemized tax claim on the state level (very common for freelancers) and claimed a larger amount than actually owed on the federal level.  HERE is an article explaining why this makes sense, in a more complete way than I will subject your tumblr feed to. And here is a link where you can find out more about why you get a refund at all: Tax Refund.
